A new honors college set to open at Purdue University in 2013 is designed to help Indiana keep its top students from leaving the state.
Purdue trustees voted Tuesday to approve the honors college. It will replace the current University Honors Program and is expected to attract 2,000 students when it opens.
The Journal & Courier reports that students who are admitted to the college would take part in a freshman seminar, unique courses in their discipline and special experiences that could include
research with a professor.
University officials are still working out the program's cost, admission policies and course design.
