The future is looking even brighter for some Notre Dame engineering students after a local firm specializing in solar power announced plans to launch an internship program with the University.
Michiana-based Inovateus is one of the fastest-growing solar power distributors and integrators in the Midwest. The company has worked to put South Bend on the map for electric car suppliers through a major partnership with General Electric.
Now, Inovateus is strengthening another partnership, this time with Notre Dame.
The company is opening a satellite office in Innovation Park, where they say they will employ students as interns and provide them with hands-on experience designing solar energy projects and developing new technology.
The president of Inovateus says interns could also be offered full-time positions with the company post-graduation.
