There were plenty of chainsaws and ice at Heritage Square on Saturday for the sixth annual Ice Fest.

Carvers set up outside of Martin's and got to work competing for top honors.

They were given three hours to complete their pieces.

While the sunshine on Saturday made some happy, it meant that these carvers had to take extra precautions.

Amy Heline, Marketing and Customer Service Manager at Heritage Square explains, “When it was in the 40’s, we were hoping it would get down to the 30's. With the sun out, it’s a little warm for ice carving, but all the sculptors have been keeping their ice in the shade, and they have preventive things that just help them last longer.”

The winning sculptor was given $200, and the crowd also got to decide the People's Choice Award.
