It's one of the most popular, and one of the toughest New Year's resolutions to conquer -- to quit smoking -- yet there are programs out there to help.
On Wednesday a 6-week smoking cessation program in Joseph County begins that is free to the public.
Former smoker and class instructor, Jill Sabo, says there are still slots available for interested students. In the class a program is developed for each student designed to help them quit.
In the past Sabo says she's found success by combining various Nicotine substitutes like the patch, gum, nasal spray or pills to help a person quit.
Also she tells people when they do have a craving to stay busy doing something else because smoking is a behavioral pattern that’s hard to break.
“People relapse usually because of a behavior,” says Sabo. “If you have smoked for a long time your behavior is systematic with the cigarette.”

Classes start January 5 at 6 p.m.
