The Elkhart County Sheriff's Department held mandatory departmental training on the United States Constitution on Friday.
The training sessions, held by former Indiana Congressman John Hostettler, provides attendees with a packet of information that follows a lecture which goes through every part of the Constitution.
According to the Elkhart Sheriff's Department, the class goes into more detail into what the constitution actually says, versus what a judge would say.
Sheriff Brad Rogers believes the classes are important, which is why he made them mandatory for his staff.
"I thought it was important that you know when we raise our right hand to take the oath of office, we swear to uphold the United States Constitution and Indiana Constitution," said Sheriff Rogers. "If we don't know what's in it, how can we uphold it?"
The training is split into three, two-day classes. The training session are $125 per person.
