Congressman Joe Donnelly will battle it out for a seat in the U.S. Senate.
The democrat from Granger has served as the U.S. Representative for Indiana's 2nd congressional district since 2007.
Donnelly's campaign filed his declaration of candidacy late Wednesday, after collecting more than 8,600 certified petition signatures from Hoosiers across the state.
The announcement comes just two days after incumbent Richard Lugar and State Treasurer Richard Mourdock made their spots on the republican primary ballot official.
Those two will compete in the May 8 GOP primary. Donnelly is running, unopposed thus far, for the democrtic nomination.
The filing deadline is this Friday at noon.
