On Friday Rev. Barrett Berry announced his candidacy for South Bend mayor and filed his papers. He is the fourth Democrat vying for the city’s top job.
The Democrat is a South Bend native. He is Harvard-educated and worked in the White House during Bill Clinton’s presidency.
“I run because I have a heart for those who have been left aside, and forgotten, and underrepresented in this city,” said Berry during his press conference. “I run because we can make a difference, I run because the future is bright,” he added.
Berry joins Pete Buttigieg, State Rep. Ryan Dvorak, and St. Joseph County Council member mike Hamann in the Democratic primary race.
