A race in Goshen on Saturday helped out a local teen in need of a transplant.

Barrett Younghans is a 17-year-old Goshen High School senior. Last December, the active teen was diagnosed with a heart condition, and since January, he's been on the waiting list at Riley Children's Hospital for a transplant.

On Saturday, the community came to Shanklin Park for the Barrett 100 to raise awareness and money for Barrett's operation.

More than 250 people ran a 5K or 100K relay or took park in a swim-a-thon.

A lot of my friends were here and a lot people I don't know are here so it's nice to see how the community turned out to help support me through this,” said Barrett. "I wasn't sure what was going to happen because it's a little rainy today, a little nasty, but it's better than it being 100 degrees."

If you want to donate to Barrett's medical expenses but couldn't get out to the fundraiser, you can donate online. Just click here.
