Volunteers were hard at work on Saturday helping to build a home for an Elkhart woman, at the Habitat for Humanity Women's Build.

Across the country, 7,000 women volunteers are putting up 200 Habitat homes, including a home on Cleveland Avenue in Elkhart.

Volunteer Laura Colpetzer will be moving in once it is finished, and she says the home is an answer to her prayers.

"I never thought I'd actually be able to own my own home, and the houses that I've rented have been places that really needed to be condemned,” said Colpetzer. “And this is just, I just, I'm blessed. I'm really blessed to be able to have this opportunity to build this Habitat house.”

Habitat teams up with Lowe's for the Women's Build. Lowe's has donated more than a million dollars to the event nationwide.
