Bishop Kevin Rhoades from the Ft. Wayne/South Bend Diocese visited students at St. Joseph's High School in South Bend Friday morning.
Bishop Rhoades addressed the entire school during their monthly all-school Mass.
He spoke about his recent trip to the Holy Land and took part in communion with the students.
After being presented with the school's jacket and a prayer blanket, Rhoades spoke with NewsCenter 16 about the status of the new St. Joseph's High School and its progress towards its $35 million goal.
Rhoades says he's optimistic since nearly half the money has already been raised.
This was the first time he has spoken at the school.
“This is my third high school visit. I was at Bishop Lures, I was at Marian, and I came here. I just feel, you know, energized when I am at one of our Catholic schools and I felt that way today,” said Bishop Rhoades.
The bishop also mentioned an exciting opportunity for the students.
Some of them will be able to travel with him and other American students to Spain for World Youth Day in summer of 2011.
