The Post-Skylar Post-Season era at South Bend Washington started just the way the Panthers would have liked.
The 4-time defending Northern Indiana Semi-State champions jumped out to a 25-16 lead at halftime and didn't look back, beating Riley 64-31 in the opening game of the 4A Sectional at Clay.
Washington graduated all five starters from last year's squad, including Scott's step-daughter, Skylar Diggins.
The Panthers will face 17-3 Mishawaka in Friday's semifinal at 6:30pm. The Cavemen won the regular season meeting.
In game two at Clay, the host Colonials had no trouble at all with Adams, beating the winless Eagles 72-21.
Clay jumped out to a 23-0 win to start the game.
The Colonials will face NIC regular season champion Penn in Friday's other semifinal at 8pm at Clay. The Kingsmen won the regular season meeting.
----------
At Concord, Memorial avenged a regular season loss to Northridge, beating the Raiders 45-22 in the opening game of that 4A sectional.
Akyah Taylor led all scores with 21 points for the Chargers while Jada Buggs added 13.
Memorial led 29-12 late in the 4th before Northridge made a run to pull back within 10. But Taylor scored 10 of her 21 in the 4th to give the Chargers the win.
Memorial faces Goshen in Friday's 6pm semifinal at Concord.
In the other opening round game at Concord, the host Minutemen beat Elkhart Central 49-30.
Concord never trailed, opening up a 8-0 lead after one quarter.
The Minutemen will host NLC regular season champion Warsaw in Friday's other semifinal at 7:30.
----------
In the 3A sectional at Plymouth, St. Joe beat Rochester 50-35.
---------
In the 2A sectional at Jimtown, Laville edged Bremen 46-43.
---------
Sectional games at West Noble and Oregon-Davis begin on Wednesday, due to the weather.
