Even though there was no regular mail service on Christmas Day, some families did get their last-minute Christmas presents in time for the big day, thanks to some local postal workers.
Not everyone gets Christmas Day off from work to spend with their families.
“We get that question every year, even yesterday we got those questions that we’re working on Christmas Eve. Today we’re going to hear that all day long,” says U.S. Postal Service worker Vince Wilder.
Wilder and other postal workers spent the morning loading packages onto their trucks and heading out onto the icy roads to make some very special deliveries.
“I already had my time with the family and we’ll have our time this afternoon and everything, but we’ll have fun this afternoon when people open their door and see they got another present. That’ll be fun to see,” says Wilder.
And these Christmas Day deliveries definitely came as a surprise to the recipients.
So home after home, and gift after gift, Santa and his elves got some last-minute help bringing a little more joy to families on Christmas.
The Postal Service’s Express Mail delivers all 365 days of the year.
