He fought for his life for more than a month, but it was time for him to be at peace.

Thursday night, family and friends remembered 18 year-old Delvon Davidson at a prayer vigil.

Police say 25-year-old Luis Briones shot Davidson at the Phillips 66 station at Western and Falcon in South Bend back in October.

He was arrested two weeks later in Cass County.
Luis Briones was charged with attempted robbery, but the charge was updated to murder when Davidson died.
Family members say though they're suffering, the pain could've been much worse.

There's never an easy way to say goodbye. That's where the power of prayer took over and helped the Davidson's set their brother free.

Shaunda Davidson says, “I did expect my family to show up but, other people from the community, I was shocked.”

Kaylynn Davidson says, “I'm still torn up about it, my little bro.”

Shaunda and Kaylynn Davidson watched their 18 year-old brother Delvon suffer. He was told he would never talk, eat, or breathe on his own, but he held on for a month.

Though it was painful, they smile and thank god for this extra time

Kaylynn says, “Everyone at St. Joe hospital, they took good care of my little brother and I want to give them a special thank you.”

Shaunda says, “I'm just glad we had a chance to get closure with Delvon before he did pass. Most gun shooting victim's families don't get a chance to do that.

Shaunda says, “Now that he's happy and with God, we have no choice but to finish our role here on earth.

Family and friends wish he were here to share that role with them.

Kanysha Harden says, “I know right now that he's watching over us and he's remembering us and praying for us.”

Police say the shooting was not random.
