A group of students at John Adams High School were cutting it close Saturday, all while raising money for the father of one of their peers.
Saturday afternoon, the Beehive Salon hosted “Shave to Save” - a fundraising event raising awareness for cancer research.
The event was organized by Geoffry Burdell, who's father was diagnosed with cancer and shaved his head even before chemotherapy began.
Saturday students and teachers sat in the chairs for a shave to show support.
For the past four weeks, Geoff has been getting more than 500 students around Michiana to help donate and get sponsors.
“It's just a great cause. It's something we think is really doing something for the cancer cause because, even if it's not a super big amount of money, it's really something that shows our support and awareness for cancer,” said Geoff.
The money raised goes towards Indiana University Medical Center for cancer research at Notre Dame.
