Families learned how they can pitch in Saturday in Niles.
As par of National Family Volunteer Day, the Volunteer Center of southwest Michigan held an information fair. Families can learn how they can volunteer with different organizations and donate to them.
Organizers said it's important to teach kids early how they can help others.
"Volunteering is something that you teach by example. So many parents often say how can I teach my kids to think about other people. This is how you can start very early," Debra Panazzo of the Volunteer Center of southwest Michigan said.
"This is also a way people can learn in the next year how they can volunteer," Panazzo added.
