It's property tax time again in St. Joseph County and the county is busy printing out 120,000 property tax bills.
The first batch will be mailed Tuesday afternoon and they should begin arriving in mailboxes on Wednesday.
The last batch should arrive by the middle of next week.
“Our due date is December 11th - that is a Friday. And of course, that means two things - if people are paying in person they must pay in our office by the close of business on December 11th in order to avoid penalties. For those people who are mailing in their payments, their payments must be postmarked by December 11th,” said St. Joseph County Treasurer Sean Coleman.
This year's property tax bills also serve as a notice of reassessment.
Homeowners have 45-days after the receipt of the bill to file assessment appeals.
