This weekend, bikers are revving their engines in remembrance of those who died in the September 11th terrorist attacks, and emergency workers from Kosciusko County who have been killed in the line of duty.
Mike Cox from the county’s 9/11 committee says they’ve had an event each year since the first year anniversary to remember the tragedy; but they also want to have a permanent memorial to pay tribute.
The first annual Pride Ride is on Saturday, beginning at 11 a.m., at the Kosciusko County fairgrounds. It costs $15 per bike or $10 per passenger. There will also be door prizes, a raffle, live music, and a poker run. The money raised will go toward that goal.
The monument will be placed in front of the pavilion at Center Lake Park in Warsaw.
“It really says everything that we wanted it to. The one side is dedicated to 9/11 victims and their surviving families, Cox said. “And the other side is to the four people from Kosciusko County who have given their lives in the line of duty.”
A local monument maker came up with the design.
