Two Michigan towns getting new management
Watervliet is hiring a new part-time city manager while Stevensville picks its candidate for part-time village manager.

New management is making its way to two Michigan towns.

Watervliet officially has a new city manager, according to our reporting partners at WSJM.

This week, commissioners voted to hire Troy Clay, 40, to take over the position on a part-time basis. The Watervliet native starts on Monday and will get paid $35,000 a year.

Meanwhile, leaders in Stevensville would like to hire St. Joseph Public Services Director Derek Perry to be their next part-time village manager.

The village has talked with officials in St. Joseph to see if Perry would be able to come to the village one or two days a week for administrative duties.

Stevensville council members on Wednesday approved a resolution to pursue such an arrangement with the county.

The matter will be discussed by that city's board of commissioners at a meeting sometime within the next month.
