One local group is shedding light on a deadly disease.

The "Pink Light Project” from the Northern Indiana chapter of Susan G. Komen for the Cure will have neighborhoods changing colors in Michiana in honor of breast cancer awareness month.

The bulbs can be put in lamp post, window, or porch lights.

On Monday night, downtown South Bend and Mishawaka are also changing color in what organizers are calling “pink the town”.

The Crowe Horwath, LLP building on East Jefferson Boulevard and the Marriot Hotel on North Niles Street will be projected with the Susan G. Komen for a Cure logo on the sides of the buildings throughout October. The big unveiling is Monday night at 8 p.m.

The Leeper Park Bridge near Riverside Drive in South Bend and the Main Street Bridge in Mishawaka will be decorated with pink lights.
