9-year-old Lucas Carroll, of Grand Beach, plays the son of Matt Damon in The Informant!. Carroll acted in his scenes for the movie in spring of 2008. He got the role through an audition in Chicago.
“They all just called me mini-Matt,” said Carroll on Friday, in a LaPorte classroom where he goes to school.
When he’s not in school, though, he’s done commercials and plays. His role in The Informant! as the son of Matt Damon’s character was tons of fun, he said.
“He’s really nice, he was just really nice,” said Carroll about Damon.
Around the classroom, though, Carroll is still just a kid – and a student at the school founded by his mother and aunt. Carroll’s brother Leo had a small role in the movie Fred Claus with Vince Vaughn. Those roles from both brothers have impacted students.
"They feel like Hollywood actors are real people, and I think it opened some doors in terms of everybody's ideas about possibilities and what we can do in life," said Kieran McHugh, Lucas’ aunt, who also works at the school.
The Informant! is R-rated. Most of Carroll’s scenes are in the beginning of the movie, he said.
