As Elkhart county gears up for another visit from the commander-in-chief, we asked you if there's been a change in the area since President Obama's last visit there in February.

Here's a breakdown of the results of our wndu.com poll

-Nearly 10% of people say Elkhart has improved

-Another 16% say it's stayed the same

-46% say they think it's gotten worse

-Nearly 28% say they haven't paid attention to any changes.

No matter what their opinion was, all agree patience and perseverance are the only way to pull through tough times in the area.

Talking unemployment numbers, here's what they've been since Obama's last Elkhart visit.

February-18%

March-18.9%

April-17.7%

May-17.5%

June-16.8%

Numbers aside, lunch time discussions amongst businessmen were about how they feel the local economy hasn't gotten much of a boost given the 14 million dollars from the economic stimulus plan.

Mayor Dick Moore says he's seen some really steady progress.

The Chamber of Commerce once again tell us the international attention from these Presidential visits is what's making a difference.

Kyle Hannon says, “You hope that you get a few connections that are going to be good long term business and again I think his upcoming visit will generate the same kind of attention. I don't think he was claiming to be a magician and I don't think anyone was expecting him to be that.”

The chamber talked about Tuesday’s example. As we told you today, Domenic LLC, a refrigerator manufacturing operation announced 241 jobs.

It's located in Elkhart County, but headquartered in Sweden.

Also, just weeks ago, Electric Motors announced 16-hundred jobs over the next three years, once manufacturing begins.
