The Fourth of July proved to be a big concert night in South Bend.
Fans packed Coveleski Stadium this holiday weekend to see three major acts perform.
Crews spent hours Friday night and Saturday morning preparing the stadium for the big show.
Three American rockers -- John Mellencamp, Bob Dylan, and Willie Nelson -- were in town Saturday to celebrate the Fourth of July with their Michiana fans.
John Mellencamp took the stage just after 6:00 p.m.
Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson followed with fireworks wrapping up the evening.
People started lining up as early 5:00 a.m. to get a good seat before the gates opened 12 hours later at 5:00 p.m.
Rain began to fall shortly after the 5:30 start time, but the fans we talked with said the moisture didn't put a damper on spirits.
"I've been wanting to see Willie Nelson since I was a little girl," exclaimed Melody Davidson from Rochester.
"Twenty-three times I've seen him -- this will be my 23rd time. [Each time] it's the same: exciting, heart beating. I can't wait! I'm ready for it," said avid Bob Dylan fan Shirley Dynak.
This was the second stop for the concert series, which is all part of their 2009 Ballpark Tour.
The first stop was just outside of St. Louis earlier this week.
