A host of new laws take effect July 1st, and Tuesday, Indiana Attorney General Greg Zoeller went over some of them in Goshen.
One of the new laws is taking aim at puppy mills, which have been a problem in the Hoosier state.
But a new law, Zoeller says, is hoping to run illegitimate dog breeders out of town.
"The new statute which takes effect July 1st. Dog breeders are required to register with the Board of Animal Health, licensed under minimum requirements in terms of maintaining a healthy environment for the animals as well as humane conditions for the shops," explains Zoeller.
Other laws taking effect on Wednesday affect teen drivers, as kids under the age of 18 won't be able to talk on their cell phone while behind the wheel, and new drivers will need 50 hours of supervised driving time before they get their license at 16 and a half.
School bus drivers will also face penalties if they fail to check their buses for children on board at the end of each route.
The law comes after three South Bend students were left on school buses last year.
All of the new laws go into effect on Wednesday, July 1.
