What reportedly started as a fight, ended in a car crash that injured an infant Thursday afternoon in South Bend.
The accident happened at the intersection of Washington and Kayley streets around 3pm.
Officers on the scene say a man ran a stop sign and hit an SUV, turning it on its side.
Three people were in that SUV, including a little girl less than a year old. She suffered head injuries and went to the hospital for stitches.
Moments before the crash, police say the man was fighting with a woman when she apparently pepper-sprayed him in the face -- that's when he got in the car and drove away.
"Preliminary tests show that he had been drinking, so we're going to hold on to him for a while, and let the FACT team do what they have to do," says Sgt. Charles Stokes of the South Bend Police Department.
Right now, police haven't released any names of the victims.
