If you plan to beat the heat by taking a dip this weekend, we have a warning for you.
The LaPorte County Health Department has received calls concerning a common condition known as "swimmers' itch."
Swimmers from Stone Lake have reported the skin rash.
Symptoms are a prickling sensation with discolored marks that look like chicken pox. They usually occur a few hours after swimming, but can also appear two to three days later.
Symptoms will gradually go away after about a week.
Swimmers' itch is caused by certain parasites that normally live on waterfowl and freshwater snails.
