Beach-goers who park in downtown New Buffalo to avoid paying to park at the beachfront lot are now the targets of a parking crackdown.
According to our Read it/Watch it partners at the Herald-Palladium, a new city policy limits parking in the downtown area to a maximum of three hours.
The new parking restrictions affect Whittaker Street from the Whittaker Street Bridge to Buffalo Street, Mechanic Street between Barton and Townsend, and Merchant Street between Barton and Thompson. The restrictions are in effect between the hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. from now through Labor Day.
Signs warning motorists that the new policy is in effect are already in place.
The penalty for each infraction is 20 dollars.
