Indiana State Police say toll road troopers tried to pull a driver over for speeding at around 1:30 Saturday morning.
The driver took off, leading them on a chase from South Bend to the LaPorte County line and back again.
When the driver got near the Cleveland Road river bridge going eastbound, police say he left his car and ran to the river.
South Bend police, Clay Township fire crews, and the St. Joe County K-9 unit assisted in tracking down the man.
He was taken to the hospital for minor injuries, and arrested on an outstanding warrant.
