A gas line broke at a construction project in Warsaw on Tuesday evening, leaving crews to fix the leak for over half a day.
Kosciusko County police say emergency crews were called to a broken gas line near the corner of Parker and Fort Wayne streets around 3:00 Tuesday afternoon.
At around 6:00 Tuesday night, the gas leak erupted into flames.
There was no valve close enough to the fire to turn the gas off, so NIPSCO crews had to install two new valves before they were able to stop the fire.
Crews were on the scene until about 3:30 Wednesday morning.
Two homes were evacuated as crews battled the 15-foot-tall blaze.
No houses or buildings caught on fire, and no one was hurt.
