By the end of this week property tax bills should finally be on the way to residents of Olive Township and New Carlisle.
The bills in question cover the year 2008 and are running way behind schedule.
The delays stems from property tax problems in LaPorte County and the fact that taxpayers in Olive Township and New Carlisle attend school systems based in LaPorte County.
According to St. Joseph County Treasurer Sean Coleman the bills should be in the mail by Friday of this week. The due date for payment will be June 12th.
About 2,200 residents will receive the bills. Most have already made some form of estimated tax payment to the treasurer’s office.
