Hundreds of people in St. Joseph County had the need for speed this weekend.
Michiana Raceway Park in North Liberty held the Speed School Nationals of go-karting on Sunday.
More than half of the 550 racers were under 15, and they came from all over the United States and Canada.
Organizers say go-karting is a great way to bond with your kids -- even if it is pretty loud!
"The biggest thing for young families in getting involved in karting is spending quality time with their kids, and it's the bonding experience," explained Garry Lobaugh, owner of Michiana Raceway Park. "We have customers come back to us time and again saying that the best time of their lives was the time they spent with their parents out at the go-kart track."
