President Barack Obama is slated to speak at Notre Dame's commencement ceremony, and Michiana's been buzzing over the university's controversial decision to invite a democratic, pro-choice president to speak at the Catholic school.
Now, the buzz has gone national.
On Saturday, Randall Terry -- founder of the national pro-life organization Operation Rescue -- was in South Bend to launch a protest of the president's commencement appearance.
Terry announced his intentions Saturday, complete with a President Obama mask, bullhorn, and letter of resignation ready for Father Jenkins.
He says the president's stance on abortion makes Notre Dame's decision unacceptable.
"Our intention over the next 40-something days is to be very peaceful and very aggressive in our defense of human life," said Terry. "This university has betrayed Catholics and betrayed innocent blood by inviting President Obama to speak."
Terry says he and his assistant will be in town as long as it takes for Notre Dame or the president to change their minds.
So far, two people have offered places for them to stay for free.
