Elkhart has been getting quite a bit of national press lately, from a presidential visit to a long-time stay by MSNBC. On Saturday, Mike Huckabee visited to tape a special version of his show called "Save this Town," the first in a series.

Jan and Mark Burlingame drove from outside of Chicago in their RV to see Mike Huckabee, former Arkansas governor and presidential candidate, speak.

"I think he's trying to do the right thing. That's the first thing. And the second thing is to just support the RV industry," said Jan Burlingame. "Love life in an RV, wouldn't trade it for anything."

The scene: the RV Hall of Fame in Elkhart, where Huckabee taped his show in front of hundreds of supporters.

"What we wanted to show today was that it's going through a tough time, but this is a city that has terrific raw materials, resources, and abilities to get back on its feet," said Huckabee.

Many on Saturday showed up to hear words of encouragement -- spoken not just to them but to a national audience.

"Everybody's losing their jobs everywhere, and they need money to get through and I think they need to be encouraged about that," said Veronica Bell.

For now, the spotlight is on the "RV capital of the world."

"I think the exposure's been very very good," said Dick Moore, Elkhart's mayor.

"We like to think of ourselves as a place where we say come take a look at us, this is what we got, this is where we are."

Huckabee's show airs Saturday evening at 8 p.m. on FOX.
