The Berrien County Sheriff's Department is warning about some scammers that are making the rounds in the area.
They say two white males and two Hispanic males have posed as water department workers, trying to make their way into the homes of elderly residents.
Officials say that in one instance in Berrien Springs last month, two white men went into the home of an elderly woman, claiming they needed to check her water pressure.
When the woman accompanied one of them into the bathroom to check the faucet, the other man took money from her purse.
Police say similar incidents have occurred recently in Stevensville and Watervliet. Fortunately, the suspects did not get away with any valuables in those cases.
The Berrien County Sheriff's Department warns that if someone like this comes to your door and attempts to gain entry into your home, do not let them in, and instead call 911.
