A Michiana man says his wife is alive because of the help of people in a church.
Matt and Cindee Goodling were at Southgate Church in South Bend watching a movie on Friday the 13th in February. Suddenly, Cindee, who is pregnant stopped breathing.
Matt didn't know CPR, so four strangers stepped in.
All they know is a retired doctor, an electrician, an off duty police officer and a firefighter saved Cindee.
They don't know their names. Cindee and Matt were
invited to the movie by some friends who are members of the church.
So, while the search continues for the people they hope to thank in person, the couple wants to share an important message.
Cindee says, “To think my daughter could not have a mother just because somebody didn't know CPR and that she does because people did, is just amazing.”
Cindee says it was a sign from God that her friends invited she and Matt to attend a Friday night movie Southgate Church.
Matt says, “She kept laughing then it just sort of turned into a snore for about 30 seconds and her eyes rolled back into her head and I just started freaking out. I didn't know what was going on.”
Cindee says, “My heart went into an arrhythmia and it was beating in a bad rhythm and it just couldn't keep up and it stopped.”
From what they've been told, it was an electrician and an off-duty police officer that saved Cindee and her son that is due in June.
She says, “I wouldn't be here without you and I don't know who you are. I'd love to thank you in person.”
Matt has wasted no time learning the life-saving skills.
He had no choice. It was doctors orders.
Cindee says, “It was required.”
Matt says he wishes it were a requirement for everyone.
He says, “We just want people to know that CPR can save lives.”
The Goodlings ask if you know who the four people are that helped save Cindee, to please e-mail them at sheloveschocolate@yahoo.com
