The holidays are a time for giving, but a Shipshewana man got an unusual bonus for helping others on Friday.
Devon Nelson took home a 27-inch flat screen TV this morning at the Goshen Donor Center.
He was the lucky winner of a drawing in their holiday blood drive.
Devon has donated platelets for 15 years.
During the holiday season, blood and platelet donations actually drop, so employees say it's important to roll up your sleeves and donate.
"People need blood. It's the gift of life, it's something you can give, and it doesn't cost you anything, but it certainly does help someone whose friend, loved one, or family member maybe needs it to make it to another day," explained Carol Rose.
The Goshen Donor Center says they especially need donors with O- type blood, but all blood types are welcome.
