It was a fitting tribute Friday night for a beloved D.A.R.E. officer.
At the Warsaw High School boys' basketball game, the home team warmed up in D.A.R.E. T-shirts in honor of Sergeant Terry Polston. The back of the warmups read "OP", which was Officer Polston's nickname.
The stands were a sea of white, as fans wore all white as a tribute to Polston's purity.
His niece even sang the National Anthem.
"I think if he saw this he would probably react with a huge smile that he always had on his face and he'd say 'oh come on guys, you don't need to be doing this type of thing,'" explained Terry's brother Randy.
Sergeant Polston lost his battle with lung cancer last week.
He had been with the Warsaw D.A.R.E. program since 1992.
Warsaw went on to win the game 72-60 to remain undefeated on the season.
