A collision between a car and tractor trailer in Noble County leaves two dead.

It happened just after 1:30 Saturday morning at the US 33 and CR 200 N intersection.

A Mitsubishi Eclipse was traveling east on CR 200 N when the drove into the path of the northbound tractor trailer and was struck on the passenger side.

29-year-old Andrew Hill of West Lafayette was driving the Eclipse with 29-year-old Jeremy Tuttle of Albion in the passenger seat.

The Eclipse was spun around after being hit by the tractor trailor when Tuttle was ejected from the vehicle.

The tractor trailer continued traveling when it flipped onto the driver’s side off the east side of US 33. 52-year-old Barry Chitwood of Bristol was driving the tractor trailer and became pinned inside the cab when it flipped on its side.

When police arrived on the scene Hill and Tuttle were already dead, while Chitwood was still pinned inside the vehicle and was able to communicate with officers.

Chitwood was extracted from the vehicle and flown to Parkview Hospital with fracture injuries to both legs.

US 933 was closed for a couple hours Saturday morning while officials cleared the scene.

Noble County Sheriff's Department, Ligonier Police Department and Indiana State Police all worked on the accident.

State Police are still investigating.

Andy Hill was an excellent friend and person in general. He will be greatly missed by everyone who had the wonderful chance to come across him.

As I read the comments I see one thing that showed through...Several of Andy's friend's responded. Friends is what Andy was always about. I hope his family can hold on to this as the days go through. No matter what happens in an accident like this. Someone's special son, brother, or friend is still lost.

Andy is my cousin. I have been looking all over the internet for more info about the location of the accident. I haven't really found what I have been looking for. Could someone let me know? Was it really at a crossroad or corner or what? This accident is horrible for all families involved, our prayers go out to all who have been impacted by this tragedy.

why is everyone wants to blame the other person when a terrible accident happens ? first off, you have to think about the families that lost a loved one and the other is the person who survives. do not place blame unless you are SURE you know the facts.. i used to drive a big rig coast to coast till i found out i was pregnant and decided to give it up to raise my child. her father and i were co-drivers so please no smart remarks about a single female on the road. i have seen many accidents involving all sorts of vehicles and also have helped to clean many up as i also worked a towing and recovery service. i wish people would learn to pay attention when there are big rigs around and realize it takes at least a football field or more to stop that truck if loaded. i have lost several friends who were drivers because they avoided hitting someone who pulled out in front of them. please people, be aware of your surroundings the life you save could be yours.

It is so sad to hear about a death, no matter how the accident happened, we should think about all involved. This story doesn’t tell us much, was speed, drinking or drugs involved or was it just a young man that didn’t know the area and ran a stop sign? People should remember all involved, two young men are gone and the truck driver will not be able to work for who knows how long. Let’s remember all the families involved, pray for the ones that lost a family member and the trucker that will be laid up and have no income to pay his bills and provide for his family. My husband is a trucker; one of his biggest fears is someone pulling out in front of him and not being able to stop in time. Please think about what it takes for a large vehicle to stop and what it takes to avoid hitting you if you pull out or cut them off. Most truckers will put themselves in danger to avoid a smaller vehicle, they know most likely you will die if they hit you; they do NOT want that to happen.

I'm amazed how many people have opinions about an incident they know very little about. I knew Andy and he would have a big laugh at your ignorant opinions.

well if people would slow down and pay attention to the road and understand that a semi is not able to stop in the same distance as a car or pickup truck especially if he is loaded and if a semi is coming to a red light people should wait and make sure he can get the rigg stopped this could save a lot of lives.

It's tragic nonetheless.

ok BB, here goes...The truck driver was probably over his hours in the log book, trying to get home for the weekend. If he would have not gone over his hours, he would not have been there to get hit. That's how you blame the truck driver...for someone else's accident that he will have to live with for the rest of his life..some sleezeball lawyer has probably already contacted the 2 families about the lawsuit against the truck driver, his company, their ins company etc...
