A dog that was stolen from Pat's Pets at the UP Mall in Mishawaka, then returned, has now found a loving home.

Last month, a woman was playing with a Chihuahua in the "puppy room" when she stashed the dog in her bag and left.

After reporting the theft, the dog turned up at the Emergency Animal Clinic on Grape Road.

Now, a happy family has adopted the dog, and they’ve named it "Taco Bell, or Taco for short.

The new mommy of Taco emailed us these pictures, and said he's been having a blast with her two young children.

UPDATE ON TACO! Taco is almost a year old now and he is doing very well! He is still a little picky on eating but eats well! The kids are enjoying taking him for walks and chasing him through the house! He still loves his sqeaky bear and has even learned to play fetch! He's my special little guy!

Amy-we have always used science diet that the vet suggested. I have a dachshund and when he was little-like a hot dog-he ate that. I just bought the small bites which are about the size of an M&M. For the size of your dog a 20 pound dog would last a loooonnnggg time. Good luck with Taco. He is a sweetie.

I have a small dog and they have to eat every 2-3 hours, they are just like babies. Make sure you are watching him eat, and he should get plenty of rest as well!

The only condition he has is that he is a very picky eater. I have can food he will eat that I bought from the vet and a little dry food the pet store gave me! He doesn't eat that very well. I am trying another but doesn't look as if he'll eat it! I hope I find something he likes soon I can keep buying this expensive stuff! I did find a treat he likes! He is one famous pup! I love him alot! He loves car rides and sitting in my lap! My daughter loves holding him and playing with him with the cats mouse! He also loves to play with the cat! My kids love their early Christmas present! He's home just in time for Christmas.

Amy Taco is so cute. I remember that WNDU said that he had a medical condition and that is why they were so concerned about him. Is he ok?

I am glad that Taco got a good home. What happened to the woman who stole it. I hope she was found and prosecuted.
