There was an armed robbery late Thursday afternoon at a CVS Pharmacy in Mishawaka, and police hope you can help catch the suspect.

At the bottom of this story is a picture of the man who police say pulled a gun on a pharmacist and demanded OxyContin.

They believe the suspect is about 20 years old and has a goatee. He was wearing a brown hoodie.

He made off with an undetermined amount of OxyContin.

The robbery occurred at the CVS in the 300-block of North Ironwood at about 3:00 p.m.

If you have seen this man or have any information, please call Mishawaka police at 258-1678.

To Titus-not everyone in Mishawaka is white trash--it's a diverse community, homeboy.

There used to be Police officers working as security. Too much money for CVS? You can get caught stealing at CVS and still come back. You can get caught trying to get a fake script and still come back to CVS. These Managers DO NOT care about the security of the people working at ANY CVS. People can just come in and do ANYTHING they want. But if we (as employees) make an honest mistake they are all over us. Pharmacist's know that some people are druggies and still give them the narcotics. Hey, as long as the script count is up we are good to go. Are we part of the problem? YOU BET!!!

Another Meth lab was found yesterday in Mishawaka. It was less than a block from Beiger School. I have a family member thats a Mishawaka Police Officer. He's been saying for years that eventually they won't be able to lie and hide it anymore. He says we hear less than 5% of the crime thats occurring in the Princess City. I'll bet A/C Samp (PIO) forgot to release this to the media again. If people really knew what is happening in the Princess they would be scared to go out at night. The majority of Mishawaka's Police are assigned North, to take care of the retail and the 150,000 people that frequent there every day. Under the Mayor Rea plan all of the tax base from the Grape/Main Corridor goes into TIF. TIF can't be used to pay for police/fire. So the homeowners (you know the ones thats neighborhoods are crumbling in front of them)are paying taxes to police the businesses (which are making millions).Only 9 POLICE Officers per shift covering 250 police calls every day!Priorities Mayor Rea

The Michiana area is not a small town these things are a part of living in a larger area. Not the Police or Mayor's fault

Mishawaka has turned into Mishaghetto/Mishahood/ MishaUNsafe. Regarding the robbery at the CVS- why give the person (looks like a chic) the real drugs--give them something that makes them really sick that they end up in the hospital and they get busted. Better yet how about giving them cyanide? One pill and they are toast--good bye druggie, and the tax payers don't pay to support their addicted butts in rehab or jails!

An addict only thinks of making himself/herself feel better, with no thought to the end result. It's a shame but it is a common problem in this country and with all types of people....low, middle, and upper class....Addiction does not discriminate! The difference is the upper class can support the disease and the others take it day by day. Oxycontin is one of the most abused prescription drugs out there and we still have Dr's that prescribe it for depression...which I do not get. There needs to be more help in this area for this disease. I know of Madison Center (will cost you) and Life Treatment Center (I believe you had to use within the last 24 hours to get in). I am not an addict but I do have a very close family member that is and it is a daily struggle.

It won't be long before this guy is caught, someone will recognise him. Unless he's from out of the area.

between the crime and lack of jobs which includes all the Elkhart factories shutting down Mishawaka as a city is dying. No jobs=high crime its only a matter of time before before the drug addicts and gangs take over Mishawka like they have South Bend and we will start to see abandoned houses everywhere. On my street alone Im already starting to see it and i live on a main street in the heart of mishawaka. i love this town, lived here since i was born but now i think its time to get out before its too late.

I wish the police or mayor office could release to the "John Q Public" what really goes on. Its not good for the mayors office to talk how ad the city is and that is true. The sad thing is we all know South Bend is the armpit of St. Joseph county and Mishawaka is stinking up fast..... New river walks and foot bridges won't stop the scum from robbing the 7Elevens. Wake Up Mishawaka there is no wall at Ironwood Mayor Rea!! Your city is going down hill and the old neighborhoods and old Mishawaka citizens are letting there houses turn to rentl properties. Kudos to the famous "GRAPE ROAD" and all the construction projects. But the Heart of the Princess city is dying and the good people are scattering. (East to OC). I use ot live in Mishawaka but man its getting rough.

What exactly do you want the politicians to do? Stand in every store, gas station, and bank to protect you? You know this is going on in almost every town around you. Educate yourself and learn how to protect yourself and your family. Some of these criminals are habitual and keep getting put back out on the streets. But some of them are just beginning. Crime will happen until the end of time. It's up to YOU to figure out how to keep yourself safe, unless you have the money to hire a 24/7 bodyguard. People are quick to blame politicians, police, and someone else for not keeping everyone safe. But if you would take the time to protect your own self, you might find that it makes their job alot easier.

I didn't know Rush Limbaugh was even in town.

This is really scary since i live right down the street from this CVS. This type of stuff has got to be stopped. Robberies are out of control and they are wanting to cut police officers jobs. people need to open their eyes and stop living in denial.

This is the same thing that happened at the Culver CVS a few years ago, the day after Christmas, to the tee. Guy had a gun and demanded the oxycontin from pharmacist. He too got away. Wonder if its the same guy??

We've lost. If your an honest, hard-working person, or a part of such a family, move NOW. I am. Soon the thugs and bullies will run the place. This area does not offer enough which is positive to justify the effort needed to save it.

Wake up politicians. Does something serious have to happen here before you open your eyes. These are drug addicts with guns. Someone is going to get shot one of these days.

Posted by: In the Know Location: Mishawaka on Nov 20, 2008 at 05:45 PM
This is the fourth pharmacy robbery (and the second at this CVS) in the past 2 weeks in Mishawaka. There's been 6 other armed robberies in the past week in Mishawaka. Some of you politicians will still claim :it doesn't happen here". I think this proves that oh yes it does but you usually don't hear about it!
