La Porte County schools delayed due to heavy snowfall
Michigan City, IN The day got off to a slow start in La Porte County, thanks to heavy periods of lake effect snow. The situation inspired several local school districts to hold off on the start of classes Tuesday.

The day got off to a slow start in La Porte County, thanks to heavy periods of lake effect snow.
The situation inspired several local school districts to hold off on the start of classes Tuesday.
The Michigan City, La Porte and New Prairie districts were among those that imposed a two hour delay.
"Kind of rough getting to work,” said Brian Root of Michigan City. “Two hour delay for the kids to school this morning which made them pretty happy. They got to sleep in. It's not too bad, just one of those things, you know. We went from summer right into winter again and you just got to deal with it."
By late morning, the heavy snowfall had subsided.
