The St. Joseph Valley Civil War Re-Enactors came together to show people how soldiers fired cannons and what soldiers carried on their person during wartime. All of them say they love talking about the Civil War to anybody who stops in to learn.
The event also featured women and gave visitors the chance to learn about how life changed when husbands and brothers went off to war.
"Most of these women were alone and many of them lived on farms," said Jill VanLew, a Civil War re-enactor.
"You were left alone to tend that farm to take care of all the things while the men were away," VanLew said.
"I think it was a very hard time, a very sad time for most women."
