Volunteers from six local high schools are teaming up to build a home in one day.

They’ve teamed up with Habitat for Humanity St. Joseph County to build a home for Antoinette Carter and her three sons in Mishawaka.

“It’s a bubbly feeling," said Carter. "It’s warm, it’s just knowing that this is gonna be your home one day where you and your kids will live for who knows how long, is just a wonderful thing."

The home is located at 2304 Normandy, at the corner of McKinley Avenue and Normandy.

Rock the House is a project aimed at teaching students leadership skills through hands-on service with Habitat for Humanity.

The volunteers will dry-in the home from 8 am to midnight, which means the house will go from the floor all the way to being completely shingled and sided by midnight.

"You don’t get to change people’s lives a lot," said Max Wilson, a high school volunteer.

At 8 pm, U93 will host a bonfire across the street from the build. The event is open to all ages and costs $2 for admission.

Morning show hosts Rob and AJ will host the event, and they will countdown to midnight as the house nears completion!

After Saturday, volunteers will work throughout the winter and early spring to finish the home. The home is scheduled to be finished in late April or early May, before school ends.
