What better way to spend an unusually warm October day than by hanging out at the farm?

On Sunday, volunteers from St. Mary's College sponsored a trip for residents at Hope Ministries to Matthy's Farm in St. Joseph County.

Families spent the sunny afternoon on hayrides, in corn mazes, and even getting to know the animals at the Matthy's petting zoo.

It's the first time St. Mary's has sponsored an outing with Hope Ministries.

"We always did things in the past, like collecting food and donating money, and we really wanted to engage with the residents at Hope and meet the people we are helping," said Mallory Price of St. Mary’s Social Work Club.

In addition to the hayride and petting zoo, kids got to pick a pumpkin from the pumpkin patch, just in time for Halloween.
