Landscaping dreams are coming true in South Bend, thanks to our 16 Curb Appeal project.

“There’s been a major transformation with the home as well as the landscaping.”

Gone are the days of landscaping tight up against the house.

“We now are growing dwarf types of plants, trees and shrubs. And before you planted one thing and it got absolutely huge. Now, we have things that are nice and small and don’t require a lot of pruning. So you can provide that nice layered type of look,” said a spokesman from Linton’s.

Among the highlights is a Japanese maple.

“That’s one of Kim’s favorites. She came to the garden center and picked that out.”

And a spiral shaped spruce.

“Topiaries are fun they add visual excitement we call them eye candy for the landscape and it’s really not that difficult to maintain.”

The late season palette still has some color thanks to chrysanthemums

“It’s a perennial. They’ll come back year after year. We do have other perennials in here. Right now, the mums are in their glory, for the fall color.”

Perhaps the biggest color change is the green grass.

The crew from Linton’s put the finishing touches on the yard, by rolling out the carpet.

There was not grass here before, turns out the Fennell’s had a problem with grubs.

“We have successfully killed off the grubs that were here. But that doesn’t mean that they can’t come back. So as a preventative, each year, you just need to put down the grub control. So that protects the investment of the new lawn.”

An investment that makes a statement.

“We’re definitely proud of it.”

We have not given away all the secrets from our 16 Curb Appeal project.

Tune in for the final look at the transformation next week.

We will reveal the $10,000 makeover to the front yard and front of the home.

WNDU would also like to thank Linton’s enchanted gardens and Bail Home Services.
