The US Attorney’s Office says a third person will admit to a mortgage scam that was orchestrated by a former South Bend police officer.
Prosecutors charged Linda Riffle with taking part in a scheme that scammed mortgage lenders.
She helped find people to act as buyers for dozens of homes that were sold for far more than they were worth.
Investigators say she was paid $300 per home.
She could have faced up to 30 years in prison and a $1,000,000 in fines.
Former South Bend police officer Robert Culp admitted to leading the scam.
He resigned from the department after he was charged.
28-year old William Depalma also pleaded guilty to helping with the scam.
