Goshen College students are taking a day off of class for a day of service.

Wednesday marks the 10th annual service day at the college. Almost 500 students volunteered for community service projects around Elkhart County.

“I know a lot of people need more help than we think they do.. and this gives us a chance to get out of comfort zone and help other people out,” says Freshman Angelica Lehman.

It's part of the school's seven core values in education.

“We know we give a good education but we are doing more remotely with students for life. One of the things we like for our students is for them to become a part of the community because that goes beyond just the profession and education when they graduate,” says President Jim Brenneman.

Faculty and staff also volunteered. There were thirty-four different project sites set-up around the county.
