Unemployment figures on the rise in Michiana
Economic woes are trickling down to the state level, in the form of high unemployment. Indiana and Michigan both experienced rising unemployment levels in August.

Economic woes are trickling down to the state level, in the form of high unemployment.
Here's a look at numbers released Friday for right here in Michiana:
While Indiana added 4,100 jobs in August -- the fifth most in the country -- the state's unemployment rate still rose from 6.3 percent to 6.4 percent.
Meanwhile, north of the state line in Michigan, unemployment is still tops in the nation and rising, up to 8.9 percent in August.
Nationwide 6.1 percent of the workforce was unemployed last month.
