Michigan's governor celebrated a Labor Day tradition by shattering her own record for running across the state's five-mile-long Mackinac Bridge.

Gov. Jennifer Granholm is among thousands of people observing the holiday by parking their cars and walking or running across the span that stretches between Michigan's upper and lower peninsulas.

The governor joined a group of runners Monday morning and crossed the span in 35 minutes and 27 seconds. That's about five minutes off her previous time.

She says it was a "wonderful morning. Beautiful sunrise."

Do us all a favor and keep going, Jen. Don't stop 'til you get to Canada, then stay there.
