Saturday wraps up a busy week of baton twirling at Notre Dame's Joyce Center.

Competitions for America's Youth on Parade -- or AYOP -- are just finishing.

All this week, South Bend has been flooded with twirlers and their parents.

The Joyce Center has been home to the national baton twirling competition for 39 years.

The girls have been competing all week, working with their teams to win top honors.

The baton twirlers come from across the country and even the world -- as far as France and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

"It's really fun when you go on hard competitions, because it's more difficult," explains twirler Nicole Calder. "I like difficult things because they are really fun and hard."

"I think it's a great thing to have this for baton twirlers every year and give them the opportunity to perform in front of large crowds," said Margaret Mann.

Next year, the majorettes will not be using Notre Dame's facilities, as the Joyce Center is set to undergo major renovations.
