The FBI will be looking into the case of racist graffiti found at an Elkhart church.

This week, racial slurs, slogans, and symbols were found on the sidewalk around Unity Church of God in Elkhart.

As it stands now, the offenders will be facing criminal mischief charges, which are misdemeanors.

Police in Elkhart say the FBI has agreed to look at the case.

They say the FBI was asked to join the investigation because Indiana does not have a hate crime law.

I agree with m4 100% !!! The FBI has to look into it or Jesse Jackson and all his rioting followers with torch the city.

To M4: AMEN to that! To: Anonymous @ 1:16 p.m.: Where have you been? Blacks kill whites all the time or do vandalism to them but it's NEVER been a hate crime unless it's been a white doing something to a black.

That's the the most ignorant thing I ever heard. A hate crime is a hate crime,no matter what race you are. And I for one think it's a good idea to bring in FBI's if our Indiana law won't protect people from hate crimes. It all might start as words but you never know what it could end up as.So why wait till some one gets hurt.

of course they wouldnt be investigating if it were done by the black panthers. that would be racist. youre racist for even thinking that. remember, its only a hate crime if a white person does it.

I would think that the FBI would have some important murder investigating or something. Not called in to find a kid who bought a can of paint at a dollar general and painted on a church . Just maybe while they are their they can find that infamous vanishing M16 Elkhart cant find !

My only question is if the grafitti left was for the Black Panthers would the FBI still investigate this criminal mischief? This country has really became backwards the last 10 years.

The FBI will investigate graffiti on a wall but not look into all the unsolved murders, burgleries and many drug dealings that go on in Elkhart. Good thing we all have our priorities in order. I realize racial slurs and slogans left on God's church is an awful crime, but shouldn't other problem issues also be looked into.
